Scorekeeping Requirement (Very Important)
Because of the money at stake in the Calcutta, every player must turn in a physical scorecard and enter scores online.
- Both the paper scorecard and the online scores are required
- If there are discrepancies, the team may be subject to disqualification
- Double-check scores with your group before turning anything in
Format (Quick Overview)
- Teams: 2-man teams
- Event Length: 2 days
- 18 holes each day (36 holes total)
- Team Score (per hole): Best net score of the two players
- Individual Skins (by tee group):
- Gold / Blue
- White / Green
Handicap Allowance
- Event Handicap = 85% of each player’s Men’s Club Course Handicap
- Handicaps do not change during the event
- Allowance follows USGA recommendations for this format
- See Appendix: Handicap Examples below
Team Selection & Eligibility

How to Play & Score
- Each player plays their own ball on every hole
- Record each player’s gross (actual) score on every hole using:
- a paper scorecard, and
- the online scoring system
- Both must be verified and turned in after the round
Team Scoring
- On each hole, the team score is the best net score of the two players
- The Scoring Committee will use the scoring system to determine the best net score on each hole and calculate:
- Day 1 team total
- Day 2 team total
- 36-hole total team net score
Net Score Rules (Per Hole)
A player’s net score is determined by applying handicap strokes:
- Subtract 1 stroke on holes where the player receives a stroke
- Subtract 2 strokes where warranted
- If the player does not receive a stroke on that hole, net = gross
Final Results / Placement
Team placement is based on the 36-hole total team net score.

Weather Policy (Includes Calcutta Rules)
Pro Shop Credits & CTP

- No Pro Shop credits or CTP will be awarded
- This applies to both days
- Those funds roll into the yearly prize pool for future events
- Players/teams who finish should still enter scores—those rounds count toward Men’s Club Handicap
Skins & Calcutta (If You Tee Off)
If you tee off and then do not finish due to weather:
- Skins money stays in the pot (regardless of holes completed)
- Calcutta money stays in the Calcutta pot
- If you invest in a team and they don’t finish, your money remains in the Calcutta
Buyer beware
Calcutta refunds
- Calcutta money is returned only if the golf course closes the course BOTH days
Skins refunds
- Skins money may be returned only if the course closes on that day
If Sunday Can’t Be Completed
- If weather stops play on Sunday, winners will be based on Saturday scores
Birdie Board & Hole-in-One Pot
- Holes completed count toward Birdie Board and Hole-in-One Pot
Calcutta (Summary)
Important: The Falls Golf Club and Pro Shop are not involved with the Calcutta.
Questions should go to the Men’s Club Committee: fallsmensclub@gmail.com
How It Works
- The Calcutta is a live auction of teams
- Bidding on other teams is encouraged (not required)
- The Committee will provide a team list including Event Handicaps to help with bidding
- Typical bidding guidance:
- Opening bids around $100
- Increments generally in $50 steps
- Cash only (exact change required). Teams have historically sold for $300–$1,000+
Team Rights (Buying Back)
- Teams have the right (not obligation) to buy 50% of themselves
- Any percentage other than 50% must be negotiated with the owner
- Owners are required to sell only a 50% stake (they may refuse other amounts)
Refund Policy
- No refunds of Calcutta money unless the entire two-day event is cancelled
- If an emergency occurs before teeing off Day 1, contact the committee
- Once a team hits its first shot, there are no refunds if the team quits for any reason
